From Kalasatama to Pasila with the power of two alliances

The Kalasatama to Pasila project consists of the construction of tram line 13 and pre-construction of streets, municipal engineering and green environment related to urban development, basic repair, cable transfers and new construction.

Sörkan spora and Karaatti alliances are responsible for planning and implementing the project. In both alliances, the contracting parties are the City of Helsinki and Pääkaupunkiseudun Kaupunkiliikenne Oy. Traffic is scheduled to start in 2024.

Unified cost management service for the entire project

PLM-Zone provided a cost management service for the project, where the Sörkan spora and Karaatti alliances operate their own cost data independently. The actual costs of the service providers are transferred at regular intervals to the cost management service, where they are combined per alliance. The contracting parties have visibility into the up-to-date cost information of both alliances, including the final cost forecast.

In the project, a procedure has been jointly developed for monitoring the increase in the cost level through index changes. The cost management service enables the creation and sharing of index change and other reports that facilitate cost monitoring among the contracting parties and service providers. Currently, the target cost and actual costs are uploaded from the cost management service to the project's status webpage.

"The cost management service provides a visual overview of the financial and technical progress of the Sörkan spora alliance construction site. The definition of index data in the service and the calculation of index changes make it easier to monitor the effects of an increase in the cost level."

– Tapani Koljonen, Construction Site Engineer, Destia Oy, Sörkan spora alliance

"In the project, cost forecasting and monitoring has been implemented with PLM-Zone's software, the information from which has been conveniently utilized at different organizational levels, as well as in the project's status webpage."

– Mikko Ratia, Project Engineer, GRK Suomi Oy, Karaatti alliance
